Solar Wantage PV Discount Scheme

The Sustainable Wantage Solar Discount Scheme operated from March 2011 until April 2012 on a collaborative basis with EnergyMyWay, an Oxford based renewable energy company. During that period a total of 34 domestic photovoltaic installations were completed under the scheme in the Wantage and surrounding area, with a combined peak electricity output of 114kW. The technology is now well-established under the Government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme and we believe that Solar Wantage has been successful in publicising the benefits of home generation in our area.

Feed-in Tariffs remain available and although they are reducing with time, this is only because the costs of the technology are reducing rapidly, which means that the returns on investment continue to be very attractive. The benefits are clear: you can reduce your impact on the environment while future-proofing yourself against rising electricity costs and promoting the local green economy.

For more information on home energy saving and generation, independent information can be obtained from the Energy Saving Trust (this site also has a very useful solar electricity calculator). Local installers can be found on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme website, which offers a postcode search facility. If you are contemplating investing in home generation Renewable Energy Assurance operates a consumer code for renewable energy installers and has lots of very useful independent advice to help consumers through the purchasing process.
